E-Blast: COVID-19 Vaccination for Children and Youth in DFCS Custody

May 12, 2021 10:36 AM

Dear Providers:

As access to the COVID-19 vaccine continues to increase, it is important that we are consistent in our approach to the vaccination of children and youth in our care. The vaccine is now available to children and youth starting at 12 years old and older (with Pfizer-BioNTech currently the only vaccine approved for children and youth 12 to 18 years old).

Please review the memo for a discussion of the considerations for authorizing COVID-19 vaccinations for children and youth.

Thank you.

Mary Havick, Deputy Division Director of Child Welfare
